ADVISORY/Child Booster Seat Law Effective 2002; A Booster Seat is a Holiday Gift That Can Save a Life

--The Automobile Club of Southern California

WHO: The Automobile Club of Southern California, the
California Highway Patrol and Orthopaedic Hospital
discuss a new state law and distribute gifts that
                  save lives.

WHAT: Santa Claus will arrive on an Auto Club tow truck,
given a CHP escort to give brand new booster seats
to families from Orthopaedic Hospital. Certified
installers from the Auto Club and CHP will
demonstrate the proper method of installing booster
                  seats.

WHEN: Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001 at 10 a.m at Auto Club
Headquarters, 2601 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles.

WHY: Children up to six-years-old or 60 pounds will be
required to be in an approved safety restraint
according to a new state law that takes effect
Jan. 1, 2002. The Auto Club suggests that a
booster seat is a perfect gift for any family that
has a young child who has outgrown a child safety
seat, but is still too small for a conventional
                  shoulder strap and lap belt.
