Yup It's A Buck A Gallon In The States:Price Reaches a 38-Month Low!
LOS ANGELES--Dec. 7, 2001--The average price of gasoline has fallen to a three-year low throughout Southern California, according to Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by the Automobile Club of Southern California.Gas prices have fallen for the past 12 weeks reaching the lowest level since October 1998. In various parts of the region, some retailers are selling gasoline below $1 per gallon. The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips including southern Nevada and Arizona.
Currently, the average price of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $1.130 per gallon, which is 5 cents below last week's price. In San Diego, the price is 3.4 cents lower than last week's level. Motorists in the central coast are enjoying an average that's 4.6 cents below last week's price.
"This is the lowest that we've recorded prices in more than three years and with a little looking, it's not too hard to find a retailer selling gas below $1 per gallon," said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. "In the Bakersfield area, some stations have been engaged in a gas price war since the early part of November and some stations there selling gas currently for less than 90 cents per gallon."
