US National Energy Bill to Provide Strong Support for Bio Fuels -Bye Bye OPEC
VANCOUVER, Dec. 5 - DynaMotive Energy Systems Corporation Los Angeles, California - James Acheson, Chief Operating Officer of DynaMotive Corp. (US), commented today on President Bush's support for a National Energy Plan. "DynaMotive has already received strong support in Canada and in the UK for its technology, so we welcome the US's strong endorsement of bio fuels and the significant opportunity a national energy bill will create for DynaMotive. We have targeted the US market methodically. Over the past two years, we have worked patiently to establish a credible platform from which to grow. 2002 will see those opportunities come to fruition. We recently announced a venture in New Hampshire and have additional projects in other states. Negotiations are under way and we expect to announce further developments shortly". The US is a key market for DynaMotive's biomass energy systems. It is the largest consumer of energy in the world and has the strategic need for domestically derived stable, secure and clean energy sources. There is an abundance of agricultural and forest residues available for energy use and conversion to BioOil in the US, thus, with these strong market forces, it is essential that the Company establish a strong presence. After a calculated business development process, DynaMotive is well positioned to be successful in this market. In his speech at the Farms Journal Forum on November 28th, President Bush emphasized the importance of Bio Fuels, he said: "These fuels are gentle on the environment, they can be renewed year after year, and can expand our farm economy, (they) are made right here in America so they cannot be threatened by a foreign power". Mr. Bush added, "These fuels are the future for this country". The House passed an energy plan last spring. The bill is now in the Senate. DynaMotive has demonstrated that it can process different forest and agricultural residues to produce BioOil and Char. Residues include wood, bark, sugar cane bagasse, corn husks and wheat straw amongst more than 30 others. DynaMotive is currently developing a 100 tpd BioOil facility in the UK and has plans for the construction of a 200 tpd plant to start in 2002. A typical commercial plant capable of processing 200 tons of residue per day would produce the energy equivalent of over 140,000 barrels of crude oil per year.
DynaMotive Energy Systems Corporation is an energy systems company that is a world leader in the development of technology to produce competitively priced BioOil liquid fuels from renewable and non-depleting biomass. As a clean fuel to replace natural gas, diesel and other fossil fuels to produce power and heat in industrial boilers, gas turbines and diesel engines, BioOil presents significant market opportunities that DynaMotive intends to exploit commercially. The Company and its partners are also engaged in research and development on a range of derivative products that, if successful, could potentially further enhance the market and value for BioOil as an alternative fuel and product source.
