OAKLAND, Calif.--Dec. 5, 2001--Kivera, the standard for dependable location-based services (LBS), today announced its partnership with Roadside Telematics Corp. to provide a complete, fully integrated emergency response solution. This partnership offers the first solution to combine roadside emergency medical information with an LBS solution, enabling fast and effective delivery of enhanced safety and security provisions to the telematics and roadside assistance markets.
"Kivera's leadership position in the roadside assistance market, experience in the telematics industry, and reputation for delivering dependable location-based services, make it the ideal LBS partner for Roadside Telematics Corp.," said Lawrence Williams, president and CEO of Roadside Telematics Corp. "The seamless integration of our RoadMedic(TM) system with Kivera's Location Engine(TM) technology provides customers with an end-to-end emergency response offering."
As a result of this partnership, Kivera and Roadside will offer an integrated, secure infrastructure ensuring an end user's critical medical information is available to subscribers and health care providers. With emergency medical data available through Kivera Location Engine technology, a call center or emergency services operator has the ability to pinpoint to a user's location, provide the most efficient route to reach the user, and receive automated access to the user's vital medical information.
RoadMedic data includes an individual's pertinent medical information, such as blood type, medical allergies, emergency contact information and doctor's name. The data is available only to medical personnel, such as emergency medical technicians, physicians and hospitals. Roadside's infrastructure is designed to protect individual privacy and confidentiality through compliances with the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and French and Swiss medical information privacy standards.
"RoadMedic data enables Kivera to provide enhanced safety and security to millions of motorists," said Clay Collier, president and CEO of Kivera. "The partnership integrates technologies to deliver emergency response solutions that can potentially save lives."
