November Sales of BMW Continue to Increase
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Dec. 3 -- BMW of North America, LLC reported a 15.4 percent increase in year-to-date sales, reporting 194,713 vehicles compared to the 168,703 vehicles sold in the first eleven months of 2000. The company also said November sales increased 3.2 percent, reporting 18,107 vehicles compared to 17,551 during the same month a year ago.
``We exceeded BMW's record for annual sales (189,423) set last year, despite the challenges our industry has faced this year,'' explained Ed Robinson, Vice President of Operations for BMW of North America. ``This confirms that our strategy of offering distinctive products, consistent and powerful marketing through a strong dealer network is working.'' November also marks the 38th consecutive month that BMW has surpassed its own monthly sales records.
Automobile Sales
BMW reported November automobile sales of 14,114 compared to 14,143 a year ago. Year-to-date, automobile sales increased 8.3 percent, to 158,391 over the 146,238 in the same period a year ago.
Sports Activity Vehicle Sales
November sales of BMW's popular Sports Activity Vehicle were up 17.2 percent, as the company reported sales of 3,993 SAVs compared to 3,408 in the same month last year. Year-to-date, BMW reported sales of 36,322 vehicles, an increase of 61.7 percent over the 22,465 reported in the first eleven months of 2000.
Certified Pre-owned Vehicles Sales
BMW reported the best November ever in sales of Certified Pre-Owned vehicles, with 3,591 vehicles compared to 3,211 in 2000, up 11.8 percent over the same month a year ago. Year to date, Certified Pre-Owned BMW sales total 35,883, 13.5 percent below the 41,468 vehicles sold in the same period last year. The decline reflects fewer off-lease vehicles coming back into the market.
