Mitsubishi Motors Reports Best Month in History
CYPRESS, Calif., Dec. 3 -- Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA) today reported November sales of 33,060 units, marking the best sales month in company history.
``Our record sales reflect a momentum that began with the launch of the Lancer,'' said MMSA President and COO Pierre Gagnon. ``In a market filled with uncertainty, MMSA offers vehicles that deliver unmistakable value and spirit. Our momentum is strong, heading into year's end and we're on track to post our best year in history for the third consecutive time.''
The all-time record month drove MMSA's total year-to-date vehicle sales up 0.4 percent over last year to 290,758 units, pushing the company ahead of last year's record pace.
Mitsubishi Motors' record-setting November was supported by the all-new Mitsubishi Lancer compact sedan, which sold 5,928 units in only its third full month in showrooms. Sales of Lancer have grown steadily every month since it launched in August, with November marking the stylish sedan's best sales month to date.
Looking ahead to 2002, Gagnon is excited about the prospects for continued growth in North America. ``The success of the Lancer campaign is only the beginning,'' he added. ``We're launching an all-new hip, urban sport utility vehicle next year in addition to redesigned Eclipse and Eclipse Spyder models.''
