Nissan Division Announces 4.8 Percent Increase in Sales

GARDENA, Calif., Dec. 3 -- With sales of the brand new Altima leading the way, the Nissan Division of Nissan North America, Inc. announced November sales of 50,123 units, a 4.8 percent increase versus last year.

The increase was paced by the highly acclaimed re-designed Altima, launched in late August, which saw its best November ever with sales of 13,675 units, a 42.6 percent increase versus last year. In addition, the Nissan Xterra remains strong with reported sales of 7,806 units, a 26.3 percent increase versus last year and its best November as well.

In the sedan category, sales for the Nissan Sentra continued its increase to 9,498 units, up 7.1 percent versus last year. Rounding out the division are the Maxima 6,602 units; Frontier 6,329 units; Pathfinder 4,301 units; Quest 1,894 units and Altra EV at 18 units.

Nissan North America, Inc.'s sales for November, including Nissan and Infiniti divisions, totaled 56,223 units, an increase of 6.9 percent versus last year.

Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for November totaled 39,202 units, which represents 67.7 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the United States.

In North America, Nissan's operations include automotive styling, engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and manufacturing.
