Chrysler Group Reports November Sales-Down
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 3 -- Chrysler Group today reported U.S. sales of 173,361 units for November of 2001. Total sales showed a six percent decline compared to November 2000, when 184,065 units were sold. However, retail sales improved over last November.
``The first month of our 'Home For The Holidays' powertrain protection program helped us have a solid retail sales month,'' said Gary Dilts, Senior Vice President - Sales. ``Our customers are telling us they want a great product and the peace of mind that an extended powertrain protection program offers, not just a great deal.''
The 'Home For The Holidays' incentive program offers an extended powertrain protection program for seven years or 100,000 miles on any 2001 or 2002 Chrysler, Jeep® or Dodge product purchased between November 1 and December 31, 2001.
Sales of both Chrysler PT Cruiser and Jeep Liberty remain strong, even without 0.0 percent APR financing. Sales for PT Cruiser were 12,067, a six percent improvement over a year ago. Jeep Liberty sales remain strong, with 14,670 units sold in November. ``Customers love the products, dealers love the increased showroom traffic and sales, and Chrysler Group loves their contribution to the bottom line,'' added Dilts. ``With production of the all- new Dodge Ram continuing to ramp up successfully, another hit is on its way.''
Sales of the all-new 2002 Dodge Ram were 15,157, an improvement of 30 percent from October.
Chrysler Group reduced overall inventory in November 2001 to 455,550 units, a 19 percent reduction from November of 2000, when it had 559,089 units in inventory. Inventory for November 2001 has declined to a 66-day supply, compared to a 76-day supply at the same time a year ago.
Other November sales highlights:
- Total minivan sales of 33,981 were up 18 percent, compared to November 2000.
- Total Chrysler brand sales of 43,543 were up seven percent, compared to November 2000.
- Total Jeep brand sales of 40,174 units were up 12 percent, compared to November 2000.
- Chrysler Town & Country minivan sales of 12,154 were up 38 percent, compared to November 2000.
- Chrysler Sebring Sedan sales of 4,841 were up 57 percent, compared to November 2000.
- Chrysler Sebring Coupe sales of 1,343 were up 19 percent, compared to November 2000.
- Chrysler Sebring Convertible sales of 2,506 were up 121 percent, compared to November 2000.
- Jeep Wrangler sales of 5,274 were up 28 percent, compared to November 2000.
- Dodge Stratus Coupe sales of 1,562 were up 33 percent, compared to November 2000.
- Dodge Caravan minivan sales of 18,618 were up 19 percent, compared to November 2000.
