U.S. Auto Sales Report From Morgan & Company
WEST OLIVE, Mich., Dec. 3 -- Morgan & Company, Inc., reports that U.S. auto sales totaled 1,328,240 in November, up 7.47% from November, 2000 sales of 1,235,896.
Car sales totaled 602,908, up 0.47% from year-ago sales of 600,104. Light truck sales reached 725,332, up 14.08% from last year and accounting for 54.6% of total vehicle sales in November.
By Brand: The 'Traditional Big 3' saw their share of the market fall to 62.4%, down from 63.4% at this time last year. Import brands accounted for the remaining 37.6% of the market.
By Source Region: Vehicles built in North America (U.S., Canada and Mexico) totaled 1,079,175 and accounted for 81.25% of sales in November. Imports from Asia totaled 185,837 (13.99%)and European imports totaled 63,228 (4.76%).
November sales, on a seasonally adjusted annual rate basis, totaled 18.0 million, an increase of 9.75% from the annual rate of 16.4 million realized in November of last year.
Year-to-date sales in the U.S. are running just 1.8% below the record pace set last year.
