Ford & Caterpillar Partner on Software

Sacramento - Ford Motor Co. and Caterpillar Inc. are reported to have formed an alliance aimed at jointly developing software to speed the delivery of service parts. The alliance will develop software that integrates with Ford's "Daily Parts Advantage" delivery network that was unveiled last July.

Ford plans to install the system in all 22 of its regional distribution centers. Once installed, it is expected to speed the amount of time parts orders are processes.
