GM's Cadillac and NFL Announce New Partnership
DETROIT, Dec. 3 -- General Motors and the NFL announced today a new partnership in which Cadillac will become the official vehicle of the Super Bowl and the Pro Bowl.
The three-year arrangement enables GM to promote Cadillac vehicles during the two high-profile events in a variety of ways. Elements include sponsorship of the games' MVP presentations, hospitality, exposure at NFL events and parties and advertising on NFL.com. Cadillac will also feature all-new luxury vehicles in a 60-second TV spot slated to run during Super Bowl XXXVI.
The highlight of the partnership is the presentation of the all-new Cadillac CTS to each game's Most Valuable Player. The arrangement runs through Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans, February 3, 2002, Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego, January 26, 2003 and Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston, February 1, 2004. It also covers the next three Pro Bowls in Hawaii.
In addition to the vehicles featured in the 60-second TV spot, Cadillac will also feature the CTS during additional in-game advertising and at various NFL functions, including the NFL Experience, the NFL's interactive theme park and pre-game parties. Cadillac will provide the NFL with a fleet of vehicles for use the week of the games.
``Our fans expect us to be associated with industry leaders like GM and Cadillac,'' said Roger Goodell, executive vice president, business, properties and club services. ``We are pleased to welcome GM and Cadillac to our partnership team.''
``This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to match America's premier luxury vehicle, Cadillac with this country's most popular, prestigious, highly-anticipated and widely viewed sporting event, the Super Bowl,'' said Mark LaNeve, Cadillac general manager.
The Super Bowl is annually the most-watched TV program of the year with more than 130 million viewers in the U.S. and 800 million worldwide expected to tune into Super Bowl XXXVI. The Pro Bowl is the annual NFL All-Star Game matching the American Conference All-Stars against the National Conference All-Stars.
Cadillac is a division of GM and markets the all-new CTS luxury sedan, DeVille, Eldorado, Seville, Escalade sport utility vehicle, and all-new Escalade EXT sport utility truck.
