Toyota Sienna Under Investigation For Engine Fires
The AP reported that The federal government has opened an investigation into the 2002 Toyota Sienna minivans after two owners reported a fire in the engine compartment.
No one was injured, but investigators say small children had to be evacuated from the vans in both cases.
The vans were built this summer at Toyota's Kentucky assembly plant. The fires reportedly occurred with no warning, shortly after the owners took the vehicles home from the dealerships.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration disclosed the investigation Friday in a monthly report of defect investigations. The agency's investigations can lead to a recall, but many are dropped.
