General Motors Supports eBay's "Auction for America"

Detroit - General Motors said today it is supporting eBay's "Auction for America," the online charity initiative designed to raise finds for the victims, families and communities affected by the terrorist attacks of September 11. General Motors, the world's largest vehicle manufacturer, has joined other companies in this effort and has donated an experience to be listed at www.ebaymotors.com. Users can begin bidding on this item on December 3, 2001.

  • Trip for two to the 2002 Indianapolis 500. This experience package includes round-trip economy-class airfare to Indianapolis, airport transfers, all ground transportation to and from the Speedway, two-night hotel accommodations, all daily meals, access to a special reception on Saturday evening, and exclusive access to the Chevrolet hospitality suite. The winner and a guest, members of an honorary pit crew, will also meet with the team that won the Indy Racing League championship in 2001, including legendary racecar driver Sam Hornish, Jr.

"Auction for America" enables eBay users to buy and sell goods or donate cash via the Internet site specifically to help the victims, their families and communities of the terrorist attacks. One hundred percent of all proceeds will benefit the Twin Towers Fund, which was formed to assist, support, and recognize the families of the members of the uniformed services and other government personnel who lost their lives or were injured in the tragedies of September 11.
