New Chevys Starr In Dallas Parade
Chevrolet Helps Kick Off Holiday Season With Nation's Premier Christmas Parade
Neiman Marcus/Adolphus/Children's Parade--We'll Be There
DALLAS- Santa may rely on reindeer to take him where he needs to go, but this year's Neiman Marcus/Adolphus/Children's Parade trusts Chevrolet to bring the holiday spirit to thousands of children and their families as the parade ushers in the holiday season. This Saturday, December 1 at 10 a.m., the streets of downtown Dallas and televisions throughout the nation will witness Santa's arrival and the start of holiday fun as the annual parade again rolls with Chevrolet, the Official Parade Automobile.
This year's parade features the 2002 Chevrolet Corvette convertible and the 2002 Chevrolet Camaro convertible. A Corvette like no other will feature NASCAR Driver David Starr, driver of the No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet Silverado on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The Corvette will feature a unique paint job, provided by the patients of Children's Medical Center. A Chevrolet pre-parade visit to the medical center will allow the children to paint a Corvette designated for the Parade. Dennis the Menace will join Starr in the Corvette as it rolls down Commerce Street in Dallas and across television screens around the country.
Chevrolet vehicles will also bring a host of VIPs to the crowd, including outpatients from Children's Medical Center. Along with Miss America and a variety of storybook and cartoon characters, the vehicles will deliver Miss Texas 2001 to the crowd. Chevrolet also serves as the official vehicle of Miss Texas.
The Neiman Marcus/Adolphus/Children's Parade began 14 years ago as a gift from Hotel Adolphus to the children of Dallas. It has evolved into a national display of holiday hopes and dreams supported by Chevrolet since 1994. More than 300,000 people will gather in downtown Dallas to watch the parade. Children's Medical Center of Dallas, one of the nation's most respected pediatric hospitals, receives funds through the parade's corporate sponsorships of floats, giant inflatables, mini floats and marching bands.
"Chevrolet is proud to sponsor such a terrific holiday tradition," said Nate Love, Marketing Manager for Chevrolet Car in General Motors South Central Region. "The magical combination of children, the holidays and charity is a wonderful way for Chevrolet to give back to the community during this special time of year."
This year's parade entries reflect the 2001 theme of "Laughter is the Best Medicine," and are sure to delight children of all ages. Spectators and television viewers will enjoy award-winning marching bands, high-stepping equestrian units, hundreds of comical clowns and a myriad of storybook, television and movie characters.
As the only Christmas parade in the United States designed specifically for children, the parade has become a holiday tradition for kids and families in Texas and throughout the country. Thanks to television syndication, more than 107 million households on 260 stations from Alaska to the Bahamas have the opportunity to watch the parade this year.
The parade is free and open to the public. For more information on the parade, contact the parade hotline at 214-456-8383. For more information on Chevrolet, please visit Chevrolet's Web site at www.chevrolet.com.
