Orlando Sanford Expands Public Parking; Introduces Free Terminal Shuttle and Self-Pay Parking System
SANFORD, Fla.--Nov. 28, 2001--Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) has expanded its public parking lots to compliment its growth in passenger traffic. In addition to expanding the number of parking spaces, the airport has instituted a self-pay parking system for the short-term and long-term parking lots, and a free shuttle bus between the terminal and its long-term and overflow lots.The total number of paved spaces has been increased by 51%, from 444 to 669. Short-term parking spaces have increased from 69 to 87 including 13 handicap spaces. Long-term parking spaces have increased from 375 to 582 including 8 new handicap spaces. There are also 150 overflow spaces on a fenced-in grass lot giving the airport a total of 819 public parking spaces.
The self-pay parking system accepts either cash or credit card at the "Main Pay Station" located on the terminal front at the shuttle bus pick-up/drop-off area. Payment can also be made at the exit gate by credit card only. Short-term is $1 per 30 minutes with a $7 daily maximum. Long-term is $1 per hour with a $5 daily maximum. The overflow lot, open only when the long-term lot is full, is a $10 flat rate upon entry.
The free shuttle bus will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, except Tuesday. The bus is handicap accessible, and its hours and days of operation will be adjusted based upon demand.
