Detroit 300 Gala Be There Or Be Square December 15, 2001
DETROIT, Nov. 27 -- Detroit 300 will salute Detroit's 300th year with style at the Detroit 300 Gala, presented by General Motors Corporation. The black tie affair, hosted by Mayor Dennis Archer, Edsel Ford II and GM's President and CEO, G. Richard Wagoner, Jr., will take place on Saturday, December 15, 2001 from 6:30 - 11 p.m. at General Motors Global Headquarters and will support Detroit 300. Tickets are limited, starting at $300 per individual. Additional ticket options available.
``The Detroit 300 Gala presented by General Motors is one of the last events to celebrate Detroit's 300th birthday,'' said Maud Lyon, Executive Director of Detroit 300. ``Funds raised through the event will support Detroit 300 including the legacies we leave -- the enhancements of the Riverfront Promenade, the care of 1,701 trees in city neighborhoods, parks and schools, and the Campus Martius development.''
The evening includes:
6:30 p.m. Cocktail Reception, GM World
7:15 p.m. Dinner, Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center, New
Ambassador Ballroom Program. Includes ``A Tribute to the
Detroit 300 Year and a Toast to Detroit's Future,`` and
the presentation of Beacon Awards.
9 - 11 p.m. Afterglow, the new Wintergarden. Features The
Temptations.
