Nick Reilly to Head Daewoo Transition Team

DETROIT AP reported that General Motors Corp. has named an executive from its European operations to lead the transition team involved with its planned takeover of South Korea's Daewoo Motor Co.

GM said Tuesday that D. Nick Reilly, currently GM vice president and GM Europe vice president in charge of sales, marketing and aftersales, will take the new post effective Jan. 1.

``Naming an executive of Nick's stature to lead the transition team is further evidence of the commitment General Motors has to bringing this transaction to a successful conclusion,'' Rudy Schlais, GM group vice president and president of General Motors Asia Pacific, said in a statement.

GM also announced the appointment of Jonathan Browning to succeed Reilly effective Dec. 1.

Browning returns to GM after leaving in 1997. Most recently, Browning has been managing director, Jaguar Cars Ltd. for Ford Motor Co.
