`Automotive Edge 02' to Showcase Automotive Suppliers January 9-10, 2002
PLYMOUTH, Mich.--Nov. 20, 2001--For the first time, tier one and tier two automotive suppliers will be able to showcase products and technology before the world's automotive industry at "Automotive Edge 02," a new trade show, on January 9-10, 2002, at St. John's Golf and Conference Center.
Held during the two-day Industry Preview of the North American International Auto Show, event organizers intend to bring auto suppliers, customers and decision-makers together in an atmosphere conducive to business-to-business partnerships.
"January, the cars are the stars, in Detroit," said Christine Ellis, CEO of The Facet Company, a Plymouth marketing firm. "We want to take advantage of the number of key automotive manufacturer (OEM) and supplier executives in the Motor City that week and offer them an opportunity to meet one-on-one with the `people powering technology' available from leading supplier firms."
Automotive Edge 02 will offer hospitality areas staged amid the auto supplier displays, parking and a shuttle service in luxury motor coaches to and from Cobo Conference & Exhibition Center, in downtown Detroit, home of the North American International Auto Show.
"We will generate more interest in the auto show, by making it easy for auto suppliers to invite their customers, employees and suppliers to view the Automotive Edge 02 displays and ride in comfort to Cobo Center," Ellis said. "Many of our firm's automotive clients said this event will help them spend quality time with their clients without a great deal of trouble and expense."
Participating auto suppliers will pay an all-inclusive fee of $10,000. This includes a fully installed 10-foot by 10-foot modular display, ten tickets to the North American Auto Show's Industry Preview (worth $50 each), breakfast, lunch and early evening hors d'oeuvres, and transportation to and from Cobo Center.
From each company's fee, a donation of $500 will be made to "It's For the Children," the official charitable program of Automotive Edge 02. Donations will be given to St. Christopher House, an east side Detroit organization that provides after-school and weekend activities for inner city children living in poverty. "Contributions to the children's programs have fallen dramatically since September 11," explained Melvin Frazier, Director of St. Christopher House.
Business Wire, the international media relations wire service, will be the official wire service. Business Wire's AutomotiveWire will carry exhibitor news to auto journalists via wire and Internet, including on www.tradeshownews.com.
