Concord, NC This week Daniel Johnson and the Happy Hunting Grounds racing team spent the week making final preparations for the Alan Kulwicki Memorial Hooters 300 at USA International Speedway. "We are going to Lakeland to try to pick up our first ProCup win." said Daniel. " We have had some bad luck in the past two races in this championship series and we need a good run to end the season on a high note."

Daniel has had a good rookie season staying in the top 10 in the regular season points standing all season. He has completed 94.6% of the laps raced , leading 31 laps in two races and finished in the top 10 six times. "We started the season with a goal of being a competitive race team and for me to get some seat time racing at different tracks," said Daniel. " I feel that we have accomplished that and a lot more in our first year as a rookie team with a rookie driver with a limited budget." "We are really looking forward to 2002 racing season with plans of racing full ProCup and a couple of Busch Grand National Races.

You can catch the Happy Hunting Grounds racing team live in action on Saturday night November 24 at 7:30 pm at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, FL.

Regan Smith Set for Season Finale at Lakeland

USAR ProCup Series Driver Looking for Victory in Southern Florida

MOORESVILLE, N.C., (November 19, 2001) - The USAR ProCup Series heads to USA Int'l Speedway in Lakeland, Fla. this Saturday for the final race of its 2001 season and one driver is looking to wrap up his year in winning style. Regan Smith, driver of the No. 28 Lucas Oil Products/Diamond Cut Jeans Chevrolet Monte Carlo, heads into the event with confidence on his side.

Smith picked up new crew chief Scott Sutherland in the last USAR ProCup Series event at Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park and charged to a 12th-place finish. Sutherland has a strong track record at the south Florida track.

"Scott has a lot of experience at Lakeland and knows how to get great fuel mileage there," Smith said. "Lakeland has always been a good track for me and I feel confident that between the two of us we can be a contender for the win."

Heading into the event, Smith sits 15th in points, but has a solid opportunity to place the No. 28 Lucas Oil Products/Diamond Cut Jeans machine into the top 10 in the final point standings. Only 40 points separate positions 10 through 15.

"Our goal is to finish in the top 10 in points and have a solid finish in Lakeland," Smith said. "Hopefully when the night is over, we'll be celebrating in victory lane."

Smith will also be making an appearance this Thursday in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC. Smith will be appearing on the Speedway Children's Charities' float between 11:00 a.m. and 12 noon EST.

USAR ProCup Series qualifying at USA Int'l Speedway is set for this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST. The Four Champions Memorial Hooters 300 gets the green flag four hours later at 7:30 p.m. EST.
