Automotive Recyclers Association and Its Members Prepare To Celebrate America Recycles Day

FAIRFAX, Va., Nov. 14 -- The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA), the only organization representing automotive recyclers worldwide, is preparing to celebrate America Recycles Day, which will be held November 15, 2001.

Approximately 1,500 ARA members and other professionals in the automotive recycling industry will be using American Recycles Day to raise general recycling awareness and educate others about the important benefits of buying recycled automotive parts. America Recycles Day aims to get consumers to use the day to renew their commitment to recycling.

Even ARA members outside of the United States plan to hold events to focus on their contribution to preserving the environment. Automotive Recycling helps to preserve our environment by reducing the amount of landfill space needed, recycling as much reclaimed gasoline, oil, glass, steel, aluminum, rubber, plastics and other materials as possible.

``We believe that America Recycles Day is a perfect match for our industry and the service that we provide,'' said Phil Sheppard, ARA President. ``Our industry ensures that so much of these materials are not wasted, while also collectively saving consumers millions of dollars when they buy recycled auto parts'' he added.

Founded in 1943, the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) has represented an industry dedicated to the efficient removal and reuse of automotive parts, and the proper disposal of inoperable motor vehicles. With programs such as the Certified Automotive Recycler Program (CAR) and other partnerships with automotive manufacturers, automotive recycling will continue to provide consumers with quality, low cost alternatives for vehicle replacement parts, while preserving our environment for a ``greener'' tomorrow.
