ROJAS TESTS ARCHANGEL SPORTS RACER II CAR
FAIRFIELD, N.J. (November 14, 2001) —U.S. F2000 National Championship driver
Memo Rojas recently tested with Grand-Am SportsRacer II champion, Archangel
Motorsport Services Inc.
Rojas earned the test with Archangel Motorsport, after he completed the most
laps in the 2001 U.S. F2000 season. The native of Mexico City, Mexico,
completed 324 of 328 laps, en route to finishing sixth in the championship.
The test was conducted on the 2.235-mile Carolina Motorsports Park road
course. Under ideal weather conditions, Rojas completed four stints in the
Archangel Motorsport Nissan-powered Lola during the test. Rojas impressed
the team with his feedback and speed throughout the test.
“Memo [Rojas] was very professional and easy to work with,” said Archangel
Motorsport Services Inc. owner, J. Michael Johnson. “ He immediately set
impressive times and is further testament to the U.S. F2000 National
Championship developing the best young drivers.”
Archangel Motorsports has dominated the SportsRacer II class in Grand-Am
since its inception in 2000. In the team’s inaugural season it won six of
the nine races, capturing the championship and giving U.S. F2000 graduates
Ryan Hampton and Larry Oberto the driver championship. In 2001, the team
continued its winning ways, with U.S. F2000 graduate Andy Lally winning the
Rolex Daytona 24 Hour and Championship.
The U.S. F2000 National Championship will begin preparations for the 2002
season, when it hosts a series test December 11-13, 2001, at Roebling Road
in Savannah, Georgia.
