ADVISORY/ The ''Breathe Easy Express'' Debuts in Santa Clara Using Capstone Microturbine Technology For HEV Power
--WHAT: Santa Clara's first electric-hybrid transit bus will be unveiled to provide free commuter transportation in Santa Clara between the Altamont Commuter Express and Caltrain. The buses use Capstone MicroTurbine HEV technology, an onboard microturbine generator that improves electric bus performance and efficiency, resulting in the lowest possible emissions by a bus or truck according to the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Silicon Valley Power developed these buses in conjunction with Capstone Turbine Corporation and AVS Advanced Vehicles Systems Inc. (AVS), the world's largest electric bus manufacturer. The Capstone/AVS affiliation has created groundbreaking HEV buses serving several cities across the nation. WHERE: Santa Clara Caltrain Station 1005 Railroad Avenue WHEN: Tuesday, November 13 10:00 am WHO: Capstone Turbine Corporation Santa Clara City Officials Silicon Valley Power Advanced Vehicles Systems Inc. WHY: Capstone's Hybrid electric vehicle technology for onboard generation provides the cleanest form of power of any CARB-certified engines, with the least amount of NOx emissions. In addition to HEV power, Capstone Turbine has shipped more than 1,800 commercial production Capstone MicroTurbine systems to customers worldwide. These award-winning, clean systems have logged more than one million hours of operation serving, in addition to HEV generation, the following applications: -- Resource recovery: converting oilfield, landfill and sewage waste gases into electricity -- Micro-cogeneration: combined heat/power/chilling/drying solutions -- The 9s market: power security, quality and reliability NOTE: High-resolution photos available at www.microturbine.com/whatsnew
