National Urban League's 45th Annual Equal Opportunity Day - EOD - Awards Dinner
--WHO: Hugh B. Price, President, National Urban League and Robert Benmosche, Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, MetLife, Inc. WHAT: Are hosting the National Urban League's 45th Annual Equal Opportunity Day (EOD) Awards Dinner, an event that honors individuals and corporations who perpetuate the principle of equal opportunity and exhibit leadership qualities that result in notable contributions to the cause of equal rights. Proceeds from the dinner benefit the League's education, technology, economic self-sufficiency and racial inclusion initiatives. Robert Benmosche, Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, MetLife, Inc. is the Dinner Chairman, and following are the evening's honorees: -- Pamela Thomas Graham, President & CEO, CNBC Television - The Leadership Award, in recognition of her achievements, advancements and leadership within America's corporate stratosphere, particularly her distinction as the highest-ranking African American in the ultra-competitive cable news industry. -- Alexis Herman, Chairwoman of The Coca-Cola Company's Diversity Task Force and former Secretary of the Department of Labor - The National Public Service Award (the League's highest honor), for her contributions to the public service arena. -- General Motors Corporation (accepting will be G. Richard Wagoner, Jr., President and CEO) - The Corporate Leadership Award, for the company's longstanding commitment to enhancing the quality of life in our communities, exemplified by such actions as its recent filing of an amicus brief in support of the University of Michigan's affirmative action policies.
