Opel/Vauxhall To Become Mickey's Official Automotive Partner Of Disneyland Resort Paris

Opel/Vauxhall To Become The Official Automotive Partner Of Disneyland Resort Paris

General Motors Europe and Euro Disney SCA announced today an agreement that will make Opel/Vauxhall the official automotive partner of Disneyland Paris as of April 12, 2002. The long-term agreement will result in extensive on-site presence of the Opel/Vauxhall brands and co-marketing activities.

In spring of 2002, Disneyland Resort Paris will strengthen its position as Europe's leading tourist destination through the opening of a second theme park, the Walt Disney Studios, where visitors will be invited to discover the excitement and magic of cinema, television and animation. As part of the overall partnership agreement, Opel/Vauxhall will become the official sponsor of one of the Walt Disney Studios' Park major new attractions, the "Stunt Show Spectacular®".

The agreement creates a platform for promotional activities and co-marketing opportunities, establishing Opel/Vauxhall as the official automotive partner of Disneyland Resort Paris. In addition to its major presence in the Walt Disney Studios Park, Opel heritage exhibits will be shown featured in the Disneyland Paris theme park. As well, Opel will be the lead supplier of the Disneyland Resort Paris fleet.

The agreement builds on a successful relationship the two companies began in the United States back in 1977, when General Motors opened the "World of Motion" exhibit at Walt Disney World's Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida. Today Epcot Center features the state-of-the-art "Test Track" attraction presented by General Motors.

"GM Europe and Opel/Vauxhall are pleased to be associated with Disneyland Paris, a leader in family entertainment. We consider Disneyland Paris a perfect fit for our brands and their positioning in the area of Infotainment", said Nick Reilly, Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Aftersales, General Motors Europe. "This relationship represents an important element of Opel/Vauxhall's plan to reach its customers in innovative and creative ways."

Jay Rasulo, Chairman and CEO of Euro Disney SA, said, "We are delighted to welcome Opel/Vauxhall to Disneyland Paris and especially to the Walt Disney Studios. Opel/Vauxhall's popularity in Europe perfectly matches our position as the number one European tourist destination. I am particularly satisfied with the productive collaboration between Opel/Vauxhall's designers and our "Imagineers", who successfully integrated dynamic performance cars into our future attraction, the exciting Stunt Show Spectacular®."
