UNIQUE SEBRING CELEBRATION FOR LEWIS
UNIQUE SEBRING CELEBRATION FOR LEWIS
—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—
JUPITER, Fla., Monday, November 12, 2001— Shane Lewis, TheRaceSite.com and
Stand 21 are putting out the call to all aspiring artists and race fans to
design the paint scheme that will adorn Lewis’ helmet in the 50th
Anniversary of the SuperFlo 12 Hours of Sebring. The three-time Sebring
participant will go through the entries and choose the design that he feels
best reflects his personality behind the wheel and will wear that design for
the historic event. The helmet, a Stand 21 USA F21 Double Duty helmet
donated by Stand 21 USA, will then be auctioned-off with proceeds going to
charity.
“I am pretty excited about this,” offered the Jupiter, Fla. resident. “When
Wayne (Nonnamaker, editor of TheRaceSite.com) came to me with the idea I
just thought it was awesome! A helmet means a lot to a driver and very often
their helmet design becomes a part of their identity. We can all recognize
certain drivers by just seeing their helmets. The chance to help a fitting
charity with the proceeds from the auction was ideal. I am very proud to get
the chance to be a part of this. The fact that it will be worn in one of my
favorite races, the 12 Hours of Sebring, during its 50th anniversary is just
icing on the cake.”
Not only will the winning fan get the excitement of seeing their design on
an actual racing helmet, but they will also be treated to a spectacular day
at the American Le Mans Series race of his or her choice. As Lewis’ special
guest, the winner will receive two VIP passes to the track, deluxe
hospitality, have the chance to meet Lewis and the team as well as have
their name and design displayed on TheRaceSite.com.
Though Lewis will only chose one design to have painted onto his helmet, the
winning artist will not be the only contest participant to receive a prize
for their effort. A number of honorable mentions will be chosen and those
entries will also receive a prize and have their names posted on
TheRaceSite.com.
“I want to thank Wayne and Helenè (Jönsson, Stand 21 North American
vice-president and operating manager) for doing this,” said Lewis. “Their
participation has made this possible and I thank them for asking me to join
in. This should be a lot of fun and I think everyone will be a winner… the
winning artist gets a once in a lifetime day at the track, a deserving
charity takes home the proceeds and I get a new helmet design. I am looking
forward to picking the winner and then wearing the helmet at Sebring. Let
the designing begin!”
