IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES TENTATIVE
2002 WINSTON WEST DATE: AUGUST 3, 2002


Irwindale, Calif. - - (November 9)  The mighty machines of the NASCAR Winston West Series are penciled-in to make their 2002 return to Irwindale Speedway on Saturday, August 3.  "We have a tentative 2002 event schedule on paper that shows our Winston West race on that date for next season.  We wanted to make the announcement during this year's final 'West weekend," said Bob DeFazio, the track's Vice President/Chief Operating Officer.

"Winston West races are among the most action-packed and exciting that we host here at Irwindale,"  DeFazio explained.  "Their longer race format, featuring live pit stops for fuel and tires, is always a crowd-pleaser, and the drivers are among the best and most fan-friendly that we see annually at Irwindale."

The Speedway's 2002 racing schedule will be released within a few weeks and will be available on the track's website:  www.irwindalespeedway.com.
