New Penn Employees Proudly Support N.Y. Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund
LEBANON, Pa.--Nov. 8, 2001--New Penn Motor Express, Inc., a subsidiary of Arnold Industries, Inc. announces that donations from the employees and a matching donation from the company resulted in a total contribution of $125,000.00 to the N.Y Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund.The donation will help to support the 353 families of firefighters whose lives were lost at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
A ceremony was recently held to present the contribution at New Penn's New York City terminal facility in Maspeth, Queens, NY. New Penn employees presented the contribution to Fire Department of New York Chief Harold Meyers and firefighters from the local Maspeth firehouse, which lost 19 men at the World Trade Center.
As a sign of their solidarity and support, the New York Police Department was also present during the ceremony. First Deputy Commissioner, Joseph Dunn and others represented the NYPD.
"Like many Americans, the employees of New Penn have been deeply moved by the terrorist attacks of September 11. Our employees were motivated by scenes of the New York firefighters helping to save thousands who might otherwise have been lost. It is with those thoughts in mind that our employees and our company made this contribution to help meet the needs of those most directly impacted by this tragedy," said New Penn President, Kenneth F. Leedy.
