California Number One In Safety Belt Use
SACRAMENTO, Calif.-California will receive a national award for having the top compliance with safety belt laws. The award for having the highest rating will be presented by The National Safety Council prior to a day-long law enforcement Seat Belt Summit in Sacramento. More than 200 law enforcement officials from throughout the state will attend the one-day summit, sponsored by The California Highway Patrol and The Office of Traffic Safety.Even though California has the best record in using safety belts, CHP officials will be targeting the Nine percent of those motorists who still don't get the message: "Safety belts save lives." A dramatic demonstration of this will be provided following the award presentation.
