#55 TEAM FINISHES 21ST PLACE FOR 2001SEASON

CLAYTON, GA (November 7, 2001) Powers Motorsports finished 21st in final
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points in only its first season competing in
one of NASCAR's premiere divisions. With very little corporate sponsorship
driver Tom Powers and his crew competed in 17 of the 24-event schedule. With
a season best finish of 16th, the #55 Team was able to showcase the
possibilities for the team if sponsorship can be obtained.
"We love it here in the Northeast Georgia Mountains but it is really not
the place for a professional race team" Tom Powers Said, " We hope to find
the necessary funding to either relocate the team to another area, closer to
other teams, or be able to bring the proper people here to run the team. With
proper employees we can compete successfully in this series."
The team would like to compete next year starting in Daytona in February,
but Tom admits without sponsorship they will not be able to follow the series
more than a few races. "We were able to finish eleven races in a row with a
best finish of 16th and all other finishes higher than 23rd." Tom said. "We
are very proud of all the help from friends and family that have allowed us
to follow our dream this year, and to all the people who have showed their
support, we are deeply indebted. I would also like to thank our customers of
both our businesses, 5 Star Electric and 5 Star Lighting for their
understanding during our many weekends out of town this year."
Team owner Sherri Powers finished the season 23rd in owner points. "We
are looking forward to Daytona in February" Sherri said. "We will definitely
make the first few races next year."
The 2002 Craftsman Truck series schedule has not been released yet, but
it is expected to have several more events aligned with the NASCAR Winston
Cup and Busch Series weekends. For further information please contact Richard
