GM Starts Production Of XM-Equipped Cadillacs

FOR RELEASE: November 5, 2001

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. A new sound was heard inside the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center this past weekend when GM began producing XM Satellite Radio-equipped Cadillacs. This event confirms GM as the first automaker to bring this technology to market.

"Cadillac has always been at the forefront of GM technology introductions including Night Vision, StabiliTrak, and OnStar," said Cadillac General Marketing Manager Mark LaNeve. "Now we are excited to be the first to deliver XM to our customers who expect the latest technologies and desire a refreshingly new form of radio - 'radio to the power of X', featuring 100 channels of digital-quality music, news and entertainment coast-to-coast."

LaNeve said Cadillac delivered XM to the public in less than 18 months, making this one of the fastest technology rollouts in GM history. Cadillac is offering XM as an option on the 2002 DeVille and Seville models; GM will expand availability to over 20 additional models in 2003.

"We're proud to have Cadillac as the first factory-installed automotive manufacturer bringing the next generation of radio to consumers across the country," said Steve Cook, XM's senior vice president of Sales and Marketing.

Cadillac dealerships are also eagerly awaiting the arrival of XM-equipped vehicles. "Our customers and staff are already buzzing about XM Satellite Radio," says General Sales Manager Jeff Doughty, Moore Cadillac, Vienna, Va. "XM is certain

to be an immediate hit." The service price for all 100 channels of XM Radio is just $9.99 per month, which customers who lease or finance through GMAC can simply roll into their monthly car payments.

About XM
XM is transforming radio, an industry that has seen little technological change since FM, almost 40 years ago. XM will offer 100 channels of digital-quality sound coast-to-coast: 71 music channels, more than 30 of them commercial-free, and 29 news, sports and talk channels, all for $9.99 a month. XM launched commercial service in San Diego and Dallas/Fort Worth on Sept. 25 and throughout the South in mid-October, and will complete its national rollout in November. GM is a strategic investor in XM.
