Lutz Says "Great Cars and Trucks Will Help GM Gain Share"

DETROIT The AP reported that Bob Lutz , the man who won acclaim as one of the leaders of Chrysler Corp. during its turnaround in the 1980s, says General Motors will gain more market share in the coming years.

They reported that HeBob Lutz, who joined GM earlier this year to be its product czar, told USA Today in an interview published Wednesday that the car maker stands to gain as much as 5 to 6 points of market in the next few years, based on the cars and trucks he's responsible for launching. If that happens, that would push GM's share of the market to nearly 35 percent, a level it's not had since the 1980s.

They went on to quote Mr. Lutz,``The superb engineering and technological excellence I have seen'' at GM combined with ``excellent design that people recognize and love'' will get the world's largest automaker to that share, he told the newspaper.
