Hiskey Finsihes Season on High Note
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 3, 2001) - Kim Hiskey took home another victory at this weekend's Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Finale at Daytona International Speedway.
"I am so happy for my team," Hiskey said. "They have worked really hard all season and they deserve to have a great ending like this."
Along with teammate, Randy Pobst, Hiskey took the team's third checkered flag of the season in the Grand-Am GT class in her #15 Fordahl Motorsports/Crazy Redhead Racing Porsche GT3-R.
Pobst and Hiskey kept the Crazy Redhead Porsche toward the front of the field for entire race.
With a full-course yellow on lap 66, Pobst brought the GT-leading #15 into the pits for a driver change.
For the remaining 50 minutes of the race, Hiskey held off the rest of her GT class competitors.
"It was tough out there," Hiskey said. "Everyone was so close at the end. I knew I just had to hold my position and not make any mistakes."
This victory marks the third for Hiskey's history-making 2001 season. She and her Crazy Redhead team took home victories earlier in the season at Phoenix International Raceway and Road America. Hiskey finished eighth in the Grand-Am GT driver points.
Her victory at Phoenix put her in the record books as the first female class winner in Grand-Am history.
