KleenAir Awarded European Patents On NOxMaster
FULLERTON, Calif.--Nov. 6, 2001--KleenAir Systems Inc. (OTCBB:KAIR), has been awarded additional patents on its NOxMaster(R) NOx Reduction System in a number of European countries. These include the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Sweden. These patents relate to the control and enhancement technology that optimize the company's exclusive ammonia injection technology, further protecting KAIR's bright future.
KleenAir has a unique computer controlled ammonia system, the NOxMaster(R), which, when injected into the exhaust stream, interacts with NOx produced during combustion. The result converts environmentally hazardous NOx into harmless nitrogen and water.
In addition, the company's catalytic converters and particulate traps significantly reduce particulates, as well as hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO). The NOxMaster(R) NOx Reduction System competes with Urea NOx Reduction Systems that generally use multiple high-pressure injectors to inject urea in solution into the exhaust stream.
It is intended that the exhaust heat will breakdown the urea into ammonia and other by-products. While the ammonia interacts chemically in the same way as KleenAir's system, the by-products in the competitors' systems can cause problems. KleenAir's method is clearly more cost-effective as it injects ammonia directly and extensive patents protect its exclusivity in this regard.
There are no European regulations that adversely impact on the use of ammonia. A Risk and Assessment document has been supplied to the United Kingdom Department of Energy and Transportation. The company has received confirmation from the U.S. Department of Transportation that carrying onboard ammonia is consistent with all federal regulations.
KleenAir's management believes that these additional European patents will further ensure wide marketability of its systems upon completion of the current and final phase of tests being conducted on taxicabs in London.
