FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HEINZ JOINS TEAM WALKER MOTORSPORTS AT IRWINDALE
November 5, 2001 (Valencia, Calif.) - Team Walker Motorsports announced
today that Heinz USA, a division of H.J. Heinz Company, will be the primary
sponsor for the team's entry driven by Sean Woodside in the NASCAR Winston
West's season ending event to be held Saturday, November 10, 2001 at
Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway.
The team's racecar will feature both Heinz 57 ketchup products and Charlie
the Tuna from the company's StarKist Tuna brand in that event.
The racecar's new look was previewed in a string of appearances at food
industry trade shows over the past month in Las Vegas, San Diego, Los
Angeles and Phoenix.
"Team Walker Motorsports is very pleased to welcome Heinz," said Donna
Walker, team co-owner. She added, "Our team has a lot to offer a sponsor
both on and off the track. We are working hard ensure that our performance
at Irwindale and our participation in the marketing activities included in
our agreement represent Heinz well, and to demonstrate our team's potential
to deliver what a sponsor is looking for. Hopefully, Heinz will be impressed
enough to extend our new relationship into a long-term partnership."
"We are excited about our new partnership with Team Walker Motorsports,"
said Robert DeVault, area manager, foodservice sales for Heinz USA. "Heinz
is extremely selective about whom we partner with, and Team Walker
Motorsports represents the professionalism required to be successful."
Team Walker Motorsports recently launched a marketing program designed to
benefit partnering companies and provide support for the team's plans for
growth. The Heinz sponsorship represents the first step in what the team
hopes will become a successful campaign for broad support to launch the team
into NASCAR's national divisions.
