BMW Reports Increase in October Sales, Year-to-Date Sales Increase 17 Percent;
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Nov. 1 -- BMW of North America, LLC said sales increased 1.4 percent in October, reporting 16,122 vehicles compared to 15,895 in the same month a year ago. The company also recorded a 17 percent increase in year-to-date sales, reporting 176,606 vehicles compared to the 151,152 vehicles sold in the same period of 2000.
This marks the 37th consecutive month that BMW has surpassed its own monthly sales records.
Automobile Sales
BMW reported October automobile sales of 12,343 compared to 12,367 a year ago. Year-to-date, automobile sales increased 9.2 percent, to 144,277 over the 132,095 in the same period a year ago.
Sports Activity Vehicle Sales
October sales of BMW's popular Sports Activity Vehicles were up 7 percent, as the company reported sales of 3,779 SAVs in October compared to 3,528 in the same month last year. Year-to-date, BMW reported sales of 32,329 vehicles, an increase of 70 percent compared to the 19,057 reported through October of 2000.
Certified Pre-owned Vehicles Sales
BMW also reported strong sales of Certified Pre-Owned vehicles, with 3,420 vehicles in October compared to 3,422 in October 2000. Year to date, Certified Pre-Owned BMW sales total 32,292, 15.6 percent below the 38,257 vehicles sold in the same period last year. The decline reflects fewer off-lease vehicles coming back into the market.
