Infiniti Reports 18.8 Percent Increase in Sales - New I35 Leads the Way With 25.0 Percent Increase in Sales
GARDENA, Calif., Nov. 1 -- Led by the significantly enhanced 2002 I35 luxury sedan, Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan North America, Inc. today reported October sales of 6,711 units, an 18.8 percent increase versus last year.
The new I35, which went on sale September 12 at Infiniti retailers nationwide, posted sales of 3,732 units, a 25.0 percent increase versus last year. The powerful I35 features an all-new 255-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine along with myriad standard features including a Bose® 200-watt premium audio system with 6-disc CD changer, High Intensity Discharge (HID) xenon headlights, Traction Control System (TCS) and 17-inch wheels and tires.
``Our mid-size luxury sedan has traditionally been our volume sales leader, so we're thrilled that I35 is off to a strong start,'' said Mark McNabb, vice president and general manager, Infiniti Division. ``This is a good indicator of where we're heading as we continue to see a comeback in sales following the tragic events of September 11.''
Sales for Infiniti's flagship Q45 luxury performance sedan, completely redesigned for the 2002 model year, are up 68.9 percent versus last year with sales of 342 units.
Rounding out the division, the sporty G20 also posted an increase of 23.8 percent with sales of 1,030 units while the QX4 luxury sport utility vehicle posted sales of 1,607 units.
Nissan North America, Inc. combined sales for October, including Nissan and Infiniti divisions, totaled 63,423 units, an increase of 8.2 percent versus last year.
Infiniti is supported by a network of approximately 150 retailers throughout North America and offers a range of luxury vehicles including the Infiniti QX4 luxury Sport Utility Vehicles, G20 sports sedan, I35 luxury sedan, and flagship Q45 luxury performance sedan.
