Acura Sales Set New October Record
TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 1 -- Acura month-end sales of 14,965 are up 17.1 percent over last October, helping maintain the luxury nameplate's record-setting pace for the year, the company reported today.
Both the 3.2 TL luxury performance sedan and the MDX luxury SUV set October sales records. The TL, the best-selling vehicle in its class, sold 5,793 units, up 4.4 percent over last year. The MDX sold 3,462 units, an increase of 35.6 percent over last year. Demand for the all-new RSX sports coupe also continued to grow. In its fourth month on the market, RSX sales totaled 3,144 units, the second best month since introduction. Further boosted by the strength of the October numbers, Acura year-to-date sales rose to 142,161, a 22.3 percent increase over last year.
``October sales reflect strong interest in our core models, the 3.5 RL, 3.2 TL and 3.2 CL, and a rapidly growing demand for the MDX and RSX,'' said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales. ``It appears that the confidence of the American consumer is stronger than many have anticipated.''
