DaimlerChrysler Canada reports record October sport utility vehicle sales
WINDSOR, ON, Nov. 1 DaimlerChrysler Canada today reported sales of a record 4,095 Jeep(R), Dodge and Chrysler sport utility vehicles in October, 16.9 per cent higher than the previous record 3,504 sold in October, 2000.October sales of the company's Jeep brand vehicles increased 72.3 per cent. Deliveries of 1,251 of the company's all-new Jeep Liberty were the highest for any month since Liberty was introduced in May. Jeep TJ, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango also posted October sales gains.
DaimlerChrysler Canada's retailers sold 17,210 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brand vehicles in October compared with the 18,603 sold in the same month last year. Deliveries of 200,872 cars and trucks in the first ten months of this year compared with 231,019 sold in the January-through-October period one year earlier.
"We are very proud that Dodge Caravan continues to be the top-selling vehicle in Canada", Pat Dougherty, Vice President - Sales and Service, said. "Our retailers are also very excited about the Introduction in October of our all-new 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup -- the new standard in the full size pickup class with its bold 'big rig' styling and new Quad Cab design with four standard doors", Mr. Dougherty said. Dodge Ram pickup sales increased 12.7 per cent for the month.
