Standard Motor Products, Inc. Announces $60,000 Contribution to World Trade Center Victims

    NEW YORK--Nov. 1, 2001--Standard Motor Products, Inc. (NYSE-SMP), automotive replacement parts manufacturer and distributor headquarted in Long Island City, Queens, NY and its 2500 domestic employees have raised over $60,000 in donations for the World Trade Center victims and their families.
    Employees contributed over $30,000 and the company contributed another $30,000 in matching funds.
    Employees elected to present one-half of the donation to FDNY Ladder Company #116 - for the Widows and Orphans Fund - which services their Standard Motor Products, Inc.'s headquarters and the other one-half to the New York Times 9/11 Neediest Fund.
    "Our employees represent more than 100 countries around the world," noted SMP's Chief Executive Officer Larry Sills. "Our diverse workforce wanted to express their support and concern to all affected by the tragic events of September 11. During this difficult time, with so many families struggling with the emotional shock of losing a loved one and sorting out the family's financial situation we hope our contribution will bring some monetary relief."
