New Roadside Aid Program Announced in the Pittsburgh Area
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 1 -- Road Rescue USA, a nationwide roadside assistance program giving stranded motorists access to over 16,000 garages, 35,000 tow trucks and 50,000 dedicated service personnel was unveiled today from its Pittsburgh office. Louis DiMaria, an auto repair specialist-manager residing in Cranberry Township, who put it all together, made the announcement which brought into being a dream he had several months ago of "an affordable peace of mind program that breaks the mold of traditional motor clubs." DiMaria recalled that "It all started when I saw a stranded motorist under the hood trying to restart his car. Immediately, I thought -- what if that were a woman with young children stranded not during the day but at night on a rural road and unable to call for roadside assistance because none was affordable -- none had fit the family budget." He explained, "The basic belief of Road Rescue USA is that many motorists do not need an elaborate costly plan but rather do need the comfort and peace of mind in knowing that they have affordable, reliable roadside assistance anytime and any place." DiMaria's idea took substance with the help of his wife, Marlene, and close friends in many lengthy, intense brainstorming sessions. From those sessions and in depth research, he added, emerged a program of great value to those who feel that current plans are too costly, especially those in which motorists prepay each year for towing whether used or not. "Most motorists pay fifty or seventy-five dollars or more annually for motor club cards and experience car breakdowns only once every three years or so, which means you are paying an equivalent of upwards to $200-$250 for calling a tow truck," DiMaria said. "Just how much should it cost you if you just want peace-of-mind?" he added. Road Rescue USA covers breakdowns anywhere in the United States and Canada. Under it, motorists pay for towing and other services if and when they are used. Services covered include: Mechanical First Aid, Emergency Tire Service, Battery Assistance, Emergency Gasoline Delivery, Towing, Emergency Lock Out Service and Auto Accident Towing. Quality service is insured by constant monitoring of service facilities.
