INDY RACING: Buhl tops 175 mph while getting comfortable at Nazareth

NAZARETH, Pa., Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001 - Robbie Buhl and Dreyer &
Reinbold Racing were the first Indy Racing League team to turn laps at
Nazareth Speedway, completing a test session Oct. 29-30 at the unique
1-mile oval.
The Indy Racing Northern Light Series will compete for the first time at
Nazareth on April 19-21, 2002.
Buhl topped 175 mph in his No. 24 Team Purex Dreyer & Reinbold
Racing G Force/Infiniti/Firestone Oct. 30 on a cool, sunny day in the
Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania.
"Nazareth Speedway is a place where I have had success," Buhl said. "I
am really looking forward to the April race. I have won a couple times
(1991 and 1992) in the Indy Lights here, and in 1992 this is where I
clinched the championship."
Buhl's Nazareth resume shows five starts in various open-wheel
divisions at the D-shaped Pennsylvania oval. This is his first return to
the track since 1995.
"The focus of this test is on getting comfortable and running consistent
lap times," Buhl said. "The setup is so important here.
"From what we have seen with this package, the Indy cars are going to
put on a good show here. There will be challenges for the lead and close
competitive racing all day. It will get exciting when two or three guys
are battling for the lead and have to maneuver around lap traffic."
The inaugural Indy Racing League event at Nazareth Speedway will
be the final race before the Indianapolis 500 on May 26. The Nazareth
event weekend will be an exciting festival of open-wheel racing, as the
United States Auto Club (USAC) Silver Crown, Sprint Car and Midget
Series will be featured support races.
