Unibar Releases BARCODE 2000 5.0; Powerful Label Printing Software for UNIX, Linux, NT/2000 Servers; Supports 160 Printer Models, Transparent Printer Mapping Across Enterprise Apps
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich.--Oct. 31, 2001--FRONTLINE SOLUTIONS EXPO - BOOTH 1354
Unibar today announced Unibar's professional barcode labeling software, BARCODE 2000(TM) 5.0, with an enhanced GUI interface and new printer mapping for transparent support of multiple types of printers in enterprise networks. BARCODE 2000 5.0 is high-performance, multi-platform labeling software, providing immediate production labels. Data is piped directly from the application or files to create labels without program modification. With enhanced printer mapping, barcoded labels can be printed on any printer across the enterprise (on the network) without additional design work.
"Since there's no reason to redesign the label for every printer, this product will save valuable time for customers. It will be especially helpful to integrators who support multiple installations or large installations with multiple types of servers and printer types," said Ted. L. Kruse, President of Unibar, Inc. "Since BARCODE 2000 supports multiple printer types, customers need to do the design and configuration only once. They can then print labels on any printer across the enterprise with exactly the same application interface."
BARCODE 2000 5.0 Version 5.0 provides labor-saving features for large users and VARs who support multiple platforms and/or printer vendors. Running Version 5.0 on native servers such as Linux or Solaris is much simpler than adding a "print server" and requires considerably less configuration and management. Since BARCODE 2000 appears as an extension of the applications, most users aren't even aware that it is running. Label templates designed for one platform may be moved to others without change, the templates designed for one printer type may be mapped to others.
BARCODE 2000, long used for designing and printing compliance labels in the manufacturing, logistics, and distribution arenas, supports 1D and 2D bar codes, including the AIAG B-14 specification. BARCODE 2000 5.0 server software supports applications running on UNIX, Linux, and NT/2000 systems, including most popular applications like Oracle or SAP. No software is downloaded on the client PC. The software is also application and printer independent. It requires a simple interfacing to run seamlessly with most major WMS, ERP and custom application software.
The software is used for single or batch label printing, and supports most printers, including laser printers, with application printer independence and application print destination independence, without debugging printer escape codes or program changes.
BARCODE 2000 5.0 is available today. Software is available for evaluation. Pricing is based on server platform and number of printer licenses required. Unibar products are purchased by calling Unibar directly at 800-731-6044, or e-mail sales@unibar.com.
