Delphi To Focus on North American Sales and Services
TROY, Mich., Oct. 30 -- Norman Young and Ken Szymczak have been appointed director of North American sales, Delphi Aftermarket Operations, and general director, supply chain management, Delphi Aftermarket Operations respectively, according to Francisco A. (Frank) Ordonez, general manager, Delphi Aftermarket Operations. Their appointments are effective November 19, 2001. Young will report to Ted Thacker, general director, sales and marketing, Delphi Aftermarket Operations. Szymczak will report to Ordonez.was vice president, sales and service, SPX Corp. He will be located in Troy, Mich. Young will develop strategic sales plans and direct all sales activities in North America, support new product launches, establish supporting relationships within the automotive aftermarket and create and lead a U.S. Delphi Aftermarket salesforce. He also will work to leverage Delphi's extensive Original Equipment heritage and electronics expertise to launch new Delphi products and technologies.
``Norman's extensive background in sales and marketing of products and technical services supports our sales strategy in North America and will help Delphi provide quality parts, supported with service technologies to the market,'' Ordonez said.
At SPX, Young assumed P&L leadership responsibility for all global new business development initiatives, as well as new product development, strategic account plans, distribution strategies and target marketing. Prior to joining SPX, Young spent several years at Federal Mogul Canada Ltd., where he served as general manager and sales manager and was focused on the manufacturing and distribution of automotive components. He also worked for Bowman Distribution as customer service manager.
Szymczak will assume his new position after serving most recently as business line executive (BLE), Aftermarket, Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems. He began his career with General Motors Corp. in 1970, and has held a variety of purchasing, planning and materials management positions, including director, scheduled development and planning; director, materials management; and director, material and production control. He also served as director of purchasing for Delphi's Energy & Chassis Systems before his appointment to BLE.
In his new role, Szymczak will be responsible for managing the supply chain activities on a global basis for Delphi Aftermarket Operations and will be located in Troy, Mich.
