FORD MOTOR COMPANY PRESENTS 24 SHOW VEHICLES AT ANNUAL SEMA GATHERING

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 30, 2001 – Celebrating automotive enthusiasm, Ford Motor Company will showcase more than 24 vehicles at the 2001 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercury and Volvo products will be displayed on the Ford Motor Company stand. In addition, Ford Division will feature Built Ford Tough Live! – an exhibit that allows 34 SEMA partners to modify a 2002 4x4 Ford F-150 SuperCrew, live throughout the show.

Ford Motor Company show vehicles include:

Ford

Explorer Woodie – A modern-day Explorer with the classic styling of a 1946 Ford Super Deluxe. The one-of-a-kind Explorer features Birdseye Maple wood application – inside and out – and a number of performance enhancements including up-rated brakes and tires.

Boundless Escape – The Boundless 2001 Escape is fitted with a Kenne Bell supercharger and creature comforts galore, including a satellite navigation system. The exterior is dominated by 17-inch Boyd Coddington aluminum wheels.

1956 Crown Victoria – One of the all-time Ford classics, the 1956 Crown Victoria is still appealing today with its classic low sweeping roofline and long quarter panels. Underneath, this special Crown Victoria as been reworked by its owner and includes a highly modified, 600-bhp, 8.4-liter Ford V-8 engine.

Mustang Titanium – This special-edition Mustang created by Air Ride Technologies of Jasper, Ind., features Ford's 4.6-liter engine with a Vortech Supercharger, JBA headers and a titanium exhaust by Borla. Interior accessories include custom titanium trim and Ford Bullitt pedals and shifter knobs.

Super Duty Power On Ice - As the name implies, this F-Series Super Duty is designed to handle the most extreme conditions. It features the factory stock 7.3-liter Power Stroke® diesel engine and four-wheel-drive system. More than 30 accessories – from the new front bumper and fiberglass hood, to the winch, lighting and interior trim – have been added to this vehicle.

Granatelli Motorsports/Summit Racing 2001 Mustang Cobra – Granatelli Motorsports claims this is the world's quickest and fastest modular-motor drag race Mustang. Motivated by a 1400-bhp, 5.4-liter V-8, it is capable of running the quarter mile in 7.29 seconds and reaching more than 190 mph.

Today and Tomorrow's Teenager Explorer Sport – This stylized Explorer Sport celebrates the unique the style and attitude of today's – and tomorrow's – American teenager. Based on a two-wheel-drive Ford Explorer Sport, the show vehicle features extensive body work and interior upgrades.

Focus NV – A collection of performance, suspension, interior, and audio component companies have come together to create the Focus NV, a rally appearance vehicle with performance to match. The 2.0-liter, 16-valve Zetec engine has been overhauled with a supercharger, adjustable cams and new headers. A Whole New Focus – This unique Ford Focus has been upgraded by Bruno Independent Living Aids and Ballistic Unlimited to assist the needs of physically challenged drivers. In addition to extensive exterior upgrades, it features driver/passenger power Turnouts™, Bruno's custom "low profile" front seats and hand-operated driving controls.

2002 Harley-Davidson F-150 SuperCrew – Seen for the first time at the 2001 SEMA Show, the Harley-Davidson F-150 SuperCrew is faster than ever thanks to a supercharged 5.4-liter Triton™ SOHC V-8 engine producing 340 bhp and 425 lbs.-ft. of torque.

Eric Clapton's F-150 – Roy Brizio Street Rods worked directly with guitar legend Eric Clapton to create a one-of-a-kind F-150 based on Ford's SVT Lightning. Custom body and interior modifications combine performance with luxury. Eric Clapton will be taking delivery of the vehicle after the SEMA show.

Extreme Luxury Sport Utility Vehicle – This Ford Explorer Sport Trac features redefined and upgraded suspension work, 20-inch wheels and tires, bumper to bumper custom exterior styling, and luxury interior treatments including titanium silver leather and wall-to-wall sisal carpet.

Back Country Ranger "Blast" – The Blast features rigid impact beams in place of doors, and retractable roof and rear window for an open-air adventure. It is equipped with a 4.6-liter V-8 engine producing 260 bhp and more than 300 lbs.-ft. of torque. Four-wheel drive and five-speed manual transmission enhance the performance. Jaguar

XKR-R Performance Prototype – Perhaps the ultimate expression of Jaguar's top-of-the-line sports coupe, the XKR-R is motivated by a supercharged V-8 engine boosted to over 400 horsepower. Acceleration is staggering, with a 0 – 60 mph times recorded at 4.6 seconds. Not a single component escaped Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations team's attention in the metamorphosis from stock XKR to the unique XKR-R, from the shape of the front bumper to the quad-outlet exhaust. Discovery SAFARI GARD Concept – This concept Discovery defines the capabilities true to Land Rover's legendary standards of off-road superiority. The vehicle is based upon a production Discovery Series II and served as a development exercise for the upcoming limited edition Discovery Kalahari – available soon at Land Rover retailers. The Kalahari concept showcases a host of SAFARI GARD product innovations, adding further to the Discovery Series II's already superior performance both on- and off-road.

Freelander Supercharged – Perfomance by Callaway – This concept vehicle showcases the tremendous on-road capabilities of the all-new Freelander without compromising the rugged, off-road characteristics that are synonymous with the Land Rover name. The vehicle is based on the 2002 Freelander, which goes on sale in North America in December with a starting price of under $25,000. Callaway, the legendary performance shop, has enhanced the on-road driving qualities of Freelander by supercharging the engine, modifying the suspension and lending the exterior a sportier look and feel.

LS "Sport Edition" – Performance modifications to this luxury sport sedan include an intercooler supercharger system, electronic upgrades and a performance air intake system that helps the 3.9-liter V-8 engine generate 350 horsepower and 350 lbs.-ft. of torque. Other performance modifications consist of a lower ride height, Bilstein shocks, upgraded anti-roll bars, 19-inch diameter 5-spoke aluminum alloy wheels and Z-rated high performance radial tires. The brake rotors have been cross-drilled and grooved. Extensive exterior and interior enhancements match the vehicles overall performance.

Blackwood Pegasus – The Lincoln Blackwood "Pegasus" is designed for the Polo enthusiast lifestyle – with capability of towing a two-horse trailer. Modifications include: a supercharged 5.4-liter, 475 horsepower V-8, a custom exhaust system, stainless steel high performance brakes and 23-inch wheels and tires. Interior modifications include: two seven-inch screens in the front seat backs and a DVD player. Modifications to the cargo bed consist of a 24-inch pullout table equipped with a four bottle wine rack, two 15-inch flat screens, two champagne flute holders and a chilling bucket. Two director chairs have been included in the back, as well as a Tail Gate Entertainment Conversion. Mazda

Troy Lee Designs Protegé5 – The custom Protegé5 is a moving showcase for the work of Troy Lee Design, a company famous for years of cutting-edge design work and custom helmet painting. The vehicle wears a custom mesh grille and a performance exhaust system. It rides on a lowered suspension and on 18-inch Toyo tires mounted on BBS rims.

Miata Zoomster – "Style Imagineering" was tapped to create the look of the ultimate Mazda Miata. The wide-body styling – four-inches wider in the front and six-inches wider at the rear – and custom front and rear fascia cloth hint at the extensive performance tweaks beneath the skin. From a turbocharged engine to high-performance brake pads, the Miata Zoomster celebrates Mazda's Zoom Zoom spirit. Mercury

Mercury Marauder – The Marauder, an iconic vehicle from Mercury's past, comes back as a 2003 model in the form of a four-door, five-passenger performance sedan powered by a 4.6-liter V-8 engine. With 300 horsepower on tap, the Marauder will run from 0 to 60 mph in the mid 6-second range. The first Mercury Marauder was introduced at the dawn of the muscle car era as a 1963½ model, and the 2003 model stays true to its heritage. The monochromatic exterior design features body surfaces finished in gloss black paint; dark-tinted headlamp and taillamp bezels; “Marauder” embossed in the rear fascia; and hi-intensity fog lamps. The lowered front end and higher rear provide muscle car rake.

Mercury Mountaineer Silver Streak – This Mercury show vehicle incorporates desirable features of a high-performance luxury-touring sedan with the benefits of a technologically advanced sport utility vehicle. The Silver Streak, named after the sleek, high-speed train, includes the following modifications: Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger that generates 386 horsepower and over 410 lbs.-ft. of torque. Enhanced suspension modifications, lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels and directional ultra-performance radial tires. Interior modifications include an entertainment system that contains a large format, high-resolution LCD screen and VCR. Volvo

V70 Cross Country Wagon Emphasizing "Rugged Outdoor Versatility" – It features nearly all the Volvo genuine accessories offered for the V70 XC, and then some.

V40 wagon 1.9T Inspired Dynamism – This vehicle features performance upgrades offered through Oregon-based IPD, a company that specializes in Volvo aftermarket parts/accessories. Accessories include an improved exhaust, Brembo brakes, an 18-inch wheels and tire package and a modified and lowered suspension. This car personifies the excitement of the new wagon segment.
