Fairchild Strengthens Worldwide Leadership Position in TinyLogic

    SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine--Oct. 29, 2001--

Announces new TinyLogic(TM) Ultra Low Power family providing the lowest power logic products in the world

Bringing to market the "right" products at the specifications today's customers demand, Fairchild Semiconductor International announces the TinyLogic Ultra Low Power family. The new TinyLogic Ultra Low Power devices dissipate 50 percent less power than today's current low voltage logic ICs, delivering the lowest power consumption of any logic family in the world. The improved power feature set is designed specifically for the low power requirements of cell phones, PDAs and other portable applications.
The new TinyLogic Ultra Low Power family consists of 34 devices and premiers with four single-gate logic ICs, including the NC7SP04 Inverter and the NC7SP08 AND gate. Additionally, the new family includes the industry's only configurable functions the NC7SP57 and NC7SP58, which can be configured into any of six two-input gate functions. All new TinyLogic Ultra Low Power devices are sampling in December 2001 and will be available in space-saving MicroPak(TM) and SC70 packages.
For application designs that require greater speed, TinyLogic Ultra Low Power-A premiers with four parts, the NC7SV00, NC7SV02, NC7SV04 and NC7SV125, operating at Vccs ranging from 0.9 to 3.3V and provides a 25 percent speed improvement over existing technology. The TinyLogic Ultra Low Power products allows designers to place logic function add-ons exactly where needed, eliminating long PCB signal traces and facilitating board revisions with minimal layout changes.
"Today's announcement highlights Fairchild's ability to extend its low voltage expertise into its growing portfolio of TinyLogic products," said Brent Rowe, director of Interface & Logic marketing, Fairchild Semiconductor. "We have committed considerable effort towards researching and identifying the current and future needs of the TinyLogic market. As a result, we have developed a product family that meets the low power demands required by today's portable applications. Our announcement clearly demonstrates that we are committed to delivering complete solutions, not just technology for technology's sake."
Fairchild has a solid product roadmap in place with plans to release 34 Ultra Low Power ICs over the next year, including Schmitt-Trigger Input inverters and 3-state output buffers. Designs are scalable to 0.25 um process technology to offer faster versions, planned for next year.
Pricing for TinyLogic Ultra Low Power will range from $0.161 each in MicroPak to $0.146 each in SC70 for quantities of 10,000 pieces for the NC7SP57 and NC7SP58.
Prices for TinyLogic Ultra Low Power-A will range from $0.161 each in MicroPak to $0.146 each in SC70 for quantities of 10,000 pieces.
