HR Textron Awarded Contract to Produce Rudder Aileron Actuators for Super Hornet Aircraft

WILMINGTON, Mass.--Oct. 25, 2001--Textron Systems announced today that its HR Textron Operations located in Santa Clarita, CA has been awarded a contract from The Boeing Company, St. Louis, for continued production of rudder and aileron actuators for the Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft. Valued at approximately $30 million, the contract is for deliveries through 2005.
The Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is a twin engine, multi-mission fighter/attack aircraft that can operate from either aircraft carriers or land bases. "Our electrohydraulic rudder and aileron actuators are engineered to provide excellent maneuverability and unmatched reliability," stated Joe Klocko, vice president of Aircraft Products, HR Textron.
HR Textron has a 25-year history of producing aileron actuators for all models of F-18 aircraft. The electrohydraulic rudder and aileron actuators feature unique composite-wrapped cylinders that are rugged and lightweight for survivability in combat environments.
