SAE-Detroit Section and ASM International-Detroit Chapter Announce Fall Lecture Series

    DETROIT--Oct. 24, 2001--SAE-Detroit Section and ASM International-Detroit Chapter have teamed up to present a Fall Lecture Series on Propulsion Systems for Hybrid Vehicles. The presentations, organized by Rich Bergen of SAE and Jack Simon of ASM, will take place November 6, 13, and 20 at the USCAR Office in Southfield, MI
    NOV 6 "US Advance Battery Consortium's Progress on Advanced Battery Research" Ashan Habib of General Motors Research, Warren, MI will speak on the progress of advanced battery work for automotive applications and electric vehicles by the U.S. Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC), which is part of USCAR.
    NOV 13 "Fuel Cell Development - Promise and Challenges" Bruce Kopf of Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI will speak on fuel cell research and development for automotive use, its progress, challenges and strategies.
    NOV 20 "Gas Turbine Development for Hybrid Vehicles" Gerry Skellenger of Vehicle Propulsion Technology, Rochester Hills, MI will speak on why gas turbines are attractive for vehicle propulsion, both hybrid and conventional.
    The USCAR (United States Council for Automotive Research) Office is located at 1000 Town Center Building, Suite 300, Southfield, MI. Check-in with a light dinner begin at 5:30 p.m.and lectures begin at 6:00. The cost is $20 per lecture or $50 for the series.
