Watch Out Tire Rack Here Comes Sam

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Oct. 17 -- SAM'S CLUB(R) is revving up its online membership warehouse club, located at http://www.samsclub.com, with a new feature enabling members to order tires direct from the manufacturer for delivery to the nearest SAM'S CLUB for quick installation. This new development demonstrates SAM'S CLUB'S focus on continued innovation and added convenience to its online Club. "We are always looking for new ways to make shopping at SAM'S CLUB both exciting and convenient for our members," said Tom Grimm, president and CEO of SAM'S CLUB. "Ordering tires at samsclub.com for in-club replacement and installation is the latest innovation we are offering our members." Members who shop online will have access to the same brands offered at each SAM'S CLUB, including Good Year, BF Goodrich and Michelin. In addition, members will have access to unique and special tire sizes and high performance models that may not be in stock at each Club through special order capabilities. Once special ordered, the tires will be available within two to five business days at the member's nearest club location. Ordering online ensures the tires will be in stock when the member arrives at the club for tire replacement and installation. "This is another example of our commitment to giving members exciting merchandise, convenient options and the biggest deals both online and in the clubs," Grimm said. Members who order specialty tires online will also benefit from the SAM'S CLUB price advantage. "Our tire pricing is very attractive and extends to all models ordered online," Grimm said. "This is a very simple process, but one we believe adds great value to the membership, both in cost savings and convenience." Samsclub.com recently revamped its site, making navigating easier, faster and more personal for members. When members log on to samsclub.com, the site automatically recognizes the member's name, account information, and membership level, and displays customized features and merchandise relative to their needs, based on previous purchases. The site also features a streamlined category structure for a quicker and easier online product search. And, with a more robust search engine, members can better drill down into merchandise offerings. Samsclub.com is the result of a partnership between SAM'S CLUB and Wal-Mart's Information Systems Division to marry the bricks and mortar business with the Internet by leveraging the existing network of the more than 490 SAM'S CLUBS' nationwide. SAM'S CLUB, with 2000 sales of more than $26 billion, is the largest membership warehouse club in the United States with more than 490 clubs and more than 42 million cardholders.
