STREET LEGAL DRAG RACING COMES TO THE STARTING LINE AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21 7AM-5PM Test and Tune Session on Thursday Night Will Allow Familiarization Irwindale, Calif. - - After an absence of over 28 years, the San Gabriel Valley will once again have a fully-equipped drag strip where young and old can come to try their personal automobiles against the clocks and against each other legally and under controlled, safe conditions. The new Irwindale Dragstrip, located at the far southeastern corner of the Irwindale Speedway complex at 13300 E. Live Oak Avenue in Irwindale, will open on Sunday, October 21 with a full race day for street legal vehicles on the 1/8-mile venue. The facility will open at 7am for registration and racing will conclude at 5pm. All street-legal vehicles will be eligible to run at this event. On Thursday, October 18, a "Test & Tune" session scheduled for 4 until 10 pm will allow all potential competitors a chance to try out the 'Strip prior to Sunday's first race date. All street legal and Junior Dragster vehicles are eligible and invited to test out the new track's timing lights and terrific traction on Thursday. "Street Legal" means that competing vehicles (cars and motorcycles) MUST meet ALL DMV requirements for safety and noise and that the drivers/riders MUST show a valid driver's license along with proof of insurance for their vehicle. All competing vehicles will have to pass a complete safety inspection before being allowed on the racetrack. Prices for the Thursday night session will be $10 per person for gate admission. Racers will pay an additional $10 to register and run their car at the strip.
