ADVISORY/Stamp of Approval: LADWP Helps USPS Transition From Fossil Fuel Fleet to Clean, Green Electric Carrier Route Vehicles
--WHAT: The United States Postal Service, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and South Coast Air Quality Management District will unveil 40 new electric carrier route vehicles (ECRV). The Dockweiler Station in South Central Los Angeles is the first of four Los Angeles-area offices to receive electric carrier route vehicles. More than 480 of these vehicles will provide mail delivery service in California, and of these, 110 will be used in Los Angeles. These vehicles are part of a national USPS 500-EV purchase, the largest in history. These ECRVs will enhance air quality by running virtually pollution-free. The use of the 500 vehicles will result in an annual reduction in tail pipe emissions of nearly 143,000 pounds of carbon monoxide, 11,000 pounds of hydrocarbons and 16,000 pounds of nitrogen oxides.
